亞洲超級跑車挑戰賽Asia Supercar Challenge (ASCC) 第6及第7回合已於8月28及29日於馬來西亞雪邦F1賽車場舉行,本站為馬來西亞12小時國慶盃大賽支援賽。
一共20位不同國籍之車手參與這次賽事。因本站賽事之緊迫,所以賽事由原本三日變成兩日舉行,
Asia Supercar Challenge Rounds 6 and 7 were held on Aug 28-29 at Malaysia Sepang F1 Circuit, as a support event to the Malaysia National Day celebrations, the 12 hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance race. There were a total of 20 race drivers, competing over two days instead of the normal three day weekend.

Practice began on Thursday morning, but the second practice session was held under wet conditions during lunch time. This caused some concerns for the drivers for the Qualifying session to be held in late afternoon. However, by 4pm, the weather had turned for the better, and this was a big relief to the competitors and organizers.
Porsche drivers Samson Chan and Sam Yau locked out the front row with 2’13 and 2’14 lap times, whilst the second row was the Lamborghini Gallardos of Siu Yuk Lung and Eddie Yau. Other front runners were Singaporean Mok Weng Sun in a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S and Macanese driver Rodolfo in his Ferrari 360, but they were disqualified for being underweight, and would start from back of grid
星期四為賽事第一節練習,而到中午第二節練習時即變成下雨天,各車手十分擔心三小時後之排位賽。到下午四時,天氣已由陰轉晴,車手們亦放下心頭大石。排位賽一對保時捷66號Samson Chan以2分13第一,55號Sam Yau2分14第二,而一對林寶堅尼3號邵玉龍2分15第三,72號Eddie Yau2分15.7第四。原本在前位之星加坡98號Mok Weng Sun 997 GT3Cups及澳門車手20號Rodolfo Ferrari 360,因為在排位賽時發現磅數不足,被罰尾位起步。
星期五第一回合賽事
Friday first race was rolling start format, with the front runners holding their grid positions at the start. By Lap 3, Mok Weng Sun and Rodolfo had already moved back up to 6th and 7th places. Unfortunately for Samson Chan, his Porsche developed gearbox problems on Lap 8 and forced to retire. A mistake by Sam Yau wrecked his hopes for a race win. This allowed the three Lamborghini Gallardo of Eddie Yau, Siu Yuk Lung, Siu Tit Lung to fight for the top spot on the podium. Eddie Yau managed a passing move on Siu Yuk Lung on the final lap, and thus scored his three win in 2008. Rodolfo managed a great comeback to secure the final spot on the podium with Mok on 4th place
於早上以滾動式起步,66號Samson Chan及55號Sam Yau一對保時捷997 GT3分別帶領群車,三架林寶堅尼其後,而兩位尾位起步之車手98號Mok Weng Sun及20號Rodolfo在第二、三圈已緊接至第六、七位,可見98號Mok Weng Sun之全新997 Cup S之強大力量。賽事到第八圈時,頭車之66號Samson Chan突然波箱故障,在同一時間第二位之55號Sam Yau亦衝出跑道,雙雙失去奪標之希望,變成三架林寶堅尼在前,到最後一圈時,72號Eddie Yau在一彎位內超越3號邵玉龍,一放到底,完成今年度第三次冠軍,第二位3號邵玉龍,第三位澳門車手20號Rodolfo,第四位98號Mok Weng Sun。
The afternoon race for Round 7 was based on the finishing position for the previous round, meaning Eddie Yau and Siu Yuk Lung was on the front row. Samson Chan, having retired in the first race, would have to start from the back of the grid. At the start of the race, the Lamborghini of Siu Yuk Lung failed to launch properly, and this surprised Mok Weng Sun who was starting on 4th place, and the Porsche crashed into the Lamborghini. The crash debris on the circuit forced a red flag, and the race stopped. The race was re-started after 10 minutes cleaning, and the race shortened to nine laps. The re-start with 4 cars less, was without problems, and the whole grid got away cleanly. However, the surprise winner for Round 7 was Samson Chan, who started from the back of the grid, beating Eddie Yau and Rodolfo. For Class B, the top three finishers were Christian Chia, newcomer but veteran driver Nick Thomas, and John Shen.
下午第二回合之比賽一對林寶堅尼72號Eddie Yau及3號邵玉龍分別為第一及第二位,第三位為20號Rodolfo及第四位為98號Mok Weng Sun,當起步紅燈熄滅後起步,3號邵玉龍之林寶堅尼空然發生波箱故障,變成延遲起步,98號Mok Weng Sun於超越該車期間發生碰撞,以至車輛橫放於跑道上,大會即時紅旗停止比賽,需要十多分鐘時間清理跑道,而賽事亦改為九圈比賽,因第一次起步不同之碰撞以至失去了四台車輛起步,分別兩台林寶堅尼及兩台997 GT3,第二次開始時十分順利,而66號Samson Chan997 GT3由尾位很快進展到頭位,以全場首位完成比賽,72號Eddie Yau第二,20號Rodolfo第三,66號Samson Chan首次拿下今年冠軍。而B組冠軍為8號Christian Chia 997 GT3,第二位為首次加入的42號Nick Thomas 996GT3,第三位為68號John Shen Ferrari 360。
This ends the 2008 ASCC season, with all seven rounds completed. Most of the drivers will be invited to compete in the inaugural Macau GT Cup in Nov 2008, so the Supercar Club Hong Kong has decided to withdraw from the Shanghai event in Sep2008, thus allowing the drivers and teams to better prepare for Macau this year.
而ASCC 2008之比賽經過第七回合已為今年劃上一完美句號。
大部份車手將被繳請參與今年澳門格蘭披治第一屆澳門GT盃大賽,因此香港超級跑車會取消9月份上海之賽事,讓各車手充份時間全力備戰澳門大賽,

Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MME)馬來西亞國慶盃12小時長途賽,
賽事為馬來西亞及東南亞之一年一度重要之大賽,一共77台不同類型之賽車分為四個級別,
12小時之長途賽,以Rolling Start(滾動式起跑)形式起步今年賽事星期六早上11時至深夜11時結束。今年可為對香港車手十分熱鬧之賽事,多位ASCC車手組成多個車隊參與。
Merdeka Millennium Endurance race is the major motorsports event in Malaysia and SE Asia, with 77 difference race cars in 4 categories, competing over 12 hours event. The race begins on Saturday 11am under a rolling start format, and ends 11pm. This year, many HK drivers will be competing in MME, including several from ASCC teams and drivers
LKM Racing 996 GT3 Cup邵氏兄弟及日藉車手Keita Sawa,上年度因最後之機械故障,離終點目標100米而飲恨賽事。今年度於排位賽成績列前十名排位,但星期日比賽前發覺波箱一粒螺絲斷烈,經幾數小時之維修,都不能參與比賽,十分之遺憾,一粒螺絲便斷送了一年之準備,希望明年再接再厲。
LKM Racing will have a Porsche 996 GT3, driven by owners Siu Yuk Lung and Siu Tit Lung, and Japanese driver Keita Sawa. Last year, the team was disappointed with a mechanical failure on the last lap, and a mere 100m short of the finish line. This year, the LKM team qualified 10th . The race started well, but then a broken screw in the gearbox put the Porsche back into pits, but the resulting mechanical damage was too great, forcing the team into another retirement.
